Sweeney Todd -

"Director Michael Moxham and designer Jason Southgate have provided the best three hours ofentertainment in Oldenburg. The staging is always permeated by subtle humor despite the bloody plot. " (Weser Kurier)

The musical "Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" now celebrated a successful premiere on Saturday in Oldenburg. Directed by Michael Moxha. It's direction is characterized by creepy effects, but always with a wink and a shot of English humour...The changing scenary are well lit and seamlessly merge into each other. Moxham characterizes the Sweeney Todd but not as a pure monster. Its development is spread out comprehensibly."  (Nordwest Zeitung)

"In Oldenburg Michael Moxham is directing, whose staging primarily focuses on the comedic aspect.  The key needed in the second act, where Sweeney's clients disappear and then land as dead bodies in Mrs. Lovett's pie shop, is designed as a slide. An ingenious joke is to present the lifeless bodies in specific cases and alternatively the finished pies to which Sweeney's customers are processed. Johanna's room floats down from the ceiling in an impressive moment as a golden cage. This is technically impressive, without putting the show effect in the foreground, which the tight plot does not need anyway. ".  (Kulturpoebel.de)

" Beautifully scary: premiere of the musical thriller "Sweeney Todd" at the Theater Heilbronn. Moxham, who has been inspired by the presumed location of the legendary figure of Sweeney Todd in London for his highly arranged version, has created a captivating mix of profound moments, raven-black, British humour ."
(Heilbronner Stimme Stadtausgabe)

"In the bloody spectacle drama, which was excellently staged by Michael Moxham, there is a constant change between irony, black humor and bloodthirsty shocking moments. The characters Moxham has drawn strongly, with each role is clear from which drive out the acts". (Kultur Feder)

Hansel and Gretel

"..Regisseur Michael Moxham directs with a passion for detail...Fantastic music with beautiful pictures... (BILD Bremen)

" A sweet tale but sickly and sentimental it is not...The lesson is easy we can over come fear. Moxham directs  a subtle production with beautiful costumes and sets by Jason Southgate...    (Nordwest Zeitung)

Hugh the Drover New Sussex Opera

The Independent****
‘Michael Moxham's thrifty production conjured a rural setting with little more than a strip of corn and a scaffold, ensuring maximal clarity for the rich overlay of salesmen's cries and folksongs in the market-place and maximal pathos in the final hushed farewell…’
Music OHM****

‘Director Michael Moxham overcame the daunting task of creating a production that works well in these different settings, and his interpretation maintained its visual and dramatic interest throughout the performance. Highlights included a superbly choreographed fight scene between Hugh the Drover and John the Butcher, and an excitingly tense portrayal of Mary’s efforts to free Hugh from the stocks.’
Words and Music****

‘English in the real sense and skilful direction by Michael Moxham that seemed to re-create all the boisterousness of an English Fair of the Napoleonic period.’

L’Ajo Nell’Embarazzo’ Barga Opera Festival
